MEET COURTNEY

Courtney grew up in West Texas in a Christian home with parents who loved the Lord. Her earliest memories include family devotions with her three siblings where she learned what it meant to trust God and His Word. With this foundation, her spiritual formation continued through high school and into college. But it was in college where she realized the importance of truly taking ownership of her faith instead of simply reciting all she had learned. She was challenged as she discovered how much she needed to dig into the Scriptures to find answers for herself. This experience helped her grow in her understanding of the need for a strong faith foundation.

After graduating from college, a gift for teaching God’s Word surfaced when she served as the substitute teaching leader for Bible Study Fellowship and, with the encouragement of her parents, made the decision to pursue a degree in seminary.

Courtney graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary where she received her Master of Arts in Christian Education. She then served as the Director of Women’s Discipleship for several years at her home church, Grace Bible Church, in Houston, Texas. Through all her experiences she discovered that while there were many great Bible studies available, there was a void. She could not find a basic study that provided a simple, comprehensive foundation for those seeking or the new believer. She also found that those willing and ready to disciple others did not have the basic tools to easily and confidently share their faith. For this reason she developed the 101 Christianity resources with the seeker, skeptic, new believer and mature believer all in mind.

Courtney continues to enjoy teaching the Bible and developing more resources for 101 Christianity. She lives in Houston with her husband, John, and their two boys, Jack and Camp.
